As with my last few quilts, I think I like the back more than the front – though which is which with this one? I love the grid quilting, which should have the added effect of holding the quilt still while people sign it at the wedding.
It’s an interesting puzzle to design a quilt that is both a wedding decoration and a family heirloom. This one is very wedding-y – I used Michael Millers Wedding fabric in fact – but I think it will stand on it’s own into the future.
I put the signature blocks in a random pattern, which is very hard for me! There are no two colors touching, so not completely random. I wanted it to look sun-dappled, like the light was hitting the quilt in different patterns.
I used a scrappy binding that used up most of the last of my scraps from this quilt.
Finishing it is my birthday present to myself! It’s Friday the 13th!
