Shooting Stars and Windmill Quilts

Shooting Star PatternI finished this quilt a while ago, but just recently identified the pattern as the Shooting Star. I love the pattern, I copied this quilt from an amazing book “Stitched from the Soul: Slave Quilts from the Antebellum South.”

I just posted it in my Etsy shop with some lingering remorse. I do really like it!  But I know how to make another one if I miss it too bad.

The other thing I have been up to is this pretty, aforementioned windmill quilt, featuring organic cottons and recycled soda bottle batting.  It is also now a consumer product.

Organic Windmill QuiltIt has been sunny and pretty for the first time since, ugh, dear lord, August? 2011 was the wettest year in the history of Columbus. Global warming/weirding much? 2012 is disturbingly/delightfully warm, thus far. I wish I could enjoy the January sunshine, and the pleasant picture taking and lovely walk opportunities that come with it without thinking about the catastrophic flooding, crop loss, etc that also come with these climactic changes. Enough about the weather – it’s time for pretty quilts!!
