Quilt as Perfect Existential Object

Quilter Luke Haynes posts up at Mr. X Stitch about cool quiltin’ stuff. Today he featured the words of fellow quilter Joe Cunningham. Check it out here.

My favorite quote from Joe Cunningham is from a story about a quilt made to honor an old philosopher friend. This friend had said that the quilt is the perfect existential object because:

“A quilt soothes the pain of existence three ways. First, making a quilt provides an amusing way to pass the time. Second, when it is done a quilt beautifies the world. And third, it can wrap around you and protect you from the coldness of the universe!”
