Flannel Faux Cathedral Windows

Baby QuiltBack in early April, I was happy to win a giveaway from Free Spirit – some Heather Bailey flannel – so beautiful! So soft!

I used this tutorial and most of the fabric to create these two baby quilts. I brought the partially finished quilts into a craft fair as a prop for a booth and everyone was over the moon about the fabrics. They really are great!

My big dumb mistake (there’s always a few): I wanted huge circles so I used this huge hand carved salad bowl as my circle template. After all my circles were cut out, it occurred to me that the hand carved bowl was not perfectly round. Actually, it occurred to me as I was sewing them together and it was a huge mess.

A better quilter would have torn out all the sewing and re-cut all of the circles, but lucky for me, I am just a regular person.

It looks a little rough in these pictures, but I think it won’t be as noticeable covered in baby spit up and whatever else the babies that end up with these quilt will do to them…Heather Bailey Flannel with Faux Cathedral Window Pattern

You can see on the quilt on the right, I finished the edges folded in. I don’t really have a preference, except it makes it smaller! The larger is about 34″ square.
